November 30 High costs catch up to American Airlines (Richmond Times-Dispatch)

At RIC, American Airlines and American Eagle Airlines provide up to nine departures daily at Richmond. On peak days, American makes four departures to Chicago, three to Dallas-Fort Worth and two to Miami.

"I would think we would be in pretty good shape," University of Richmond transportation economist George E. Hoffer said about American service at RIC.

Hoffer pointed out that American's and American Eagle's Richmond flights make economic sense for the company, though the American Eagle flights, which use relatively inefficient regional jets, might be vulnerable to cuts.
