The University of Richmond Spiders moved to 5-0 with a convincing 11-5 victory over the Gamecocks of the University of South Carolina. The Spiders continue to share the scoring load with 10 different players getting points, including eight different goal scorers. Junior attack Jack Hayden (Purchase, N.Y./Fordham Prep) once again led all scorers with two goals and two assists. The entire starting attack and first two midfield lines all had points.

Freshman goalie Ryan McDevitt (Newtown Square, Pa./Malvern Prep) had a stellar day between the pipes, stopping 15 Gamecock shots while only allowing five. Freshman LSM Brian Topper (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) was dominant on face-offs, going 14 for 16 on the day, while also gobbling up a team high of 10 ground balls.

Next weekend pits the battle of the unbeaten when the Spiders take the road next Saturday to face the 7-0 Virginia Tech Hokies in Blacksburg. This is the first divisional game for UR and the winner will be in the driver’s seat for a high playoff seed.
