Poet, adjunct professor Ron Smith offers remarks to VCU English graduates

J. Ron Smith, critically-acclaimed poet and adjunct associate professor of liberal arts in the School of Professional & Continuing Studies, recently offered commencement remarks to English graduates at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Smith addressed December VCU graduates receiving their Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, and Master of Fine Arts degrees in English.

Smith is the first ever Writer-in-Residence at St. Christopher’s School in Richmond and teaches English classes in the School’s liberal arts program. His poems have been anthologized and published in journals other publications, and he has published books of poetry through Louisiana and Florida university presses. He also teaches classes at VCU.
