Ohio Rep. Michael Stinziano to receive Jepson School's alumni recognition award

Ohio Rep. Michael Stinziano will receive the Tenth Year Reunion Recognition Award given by the Jepson School of Leadership Studies.

The award recognizes exemplary qualities of professional or scholarly achievement, or community or public service. Honorees are acknowledged for significant accomplishment and promise that reflects the mission of the Jepson School.

Stinziano will receive the award at Reunion Rally June 2, 11 a.m., in the Modlin Center for the Arts.

A 2002 graduate, Stinziano was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives in 2010 and is running for a second term. He was recognized by the Ohio Association of Election Officials as Legislator of the Year in 2011 and named to an Ohio newspaper's “Forty under 40” list in 2012, which recognizes young professionals for their community involvement and professional achievement.

Prior to his current role, he worked as director of the Ohio Franklin County Board of Elections. His other positions have included working as a law clerk for the Ohio House Democratic Caucus, assistant to legal counsel in the Ohio Secretary of State’s office and at a think tank for national and international issues in Washington, D.C.

After graduating from the University of Richmond with a bachelor’s degree in leadership studies, he earned a master’s degree in public administration from George Washington University and a J.D. from Ohio State University’s Moritz College of Law.

He volunteers regularly in his community and serves on several boards, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus.
