Jepson School to host Summer Institute for the History of Economic Thought
Leading economics scholars and students from around the world will gather June 29-July 2 at the University of Richmond to discuss original research in the history of political economy.
Sponsored by the Jepson School’s Adam Smith Program, it will be the 13th annual Summer Institute for the Preservation of the History of Economic Thought.
Underlying the diversity of views that will be presented is a commitment to the history of the political economy of the classical liberal tradition and the understanding that economic ideas inform conversations about policy, statesmanship and leadership.
Presenters include Nobel laureate James M. Buchanan. Topics will range from the ideas of Adam Smith, F. A. Hayek and John Stuart Mill to “Making of Economic Policy in Ghana.”
The Summer Institute is co-directed by Jepson School Dean Sandra J. Peart, a distinguished scholar with special expertise in the history of economic thought and political economy, especially in the context of ethical leadership, and David M. Levy, a professor of economics at George Mason University.
The conference is open to professionals in the private sector in addition to scholars. Registration is required but there is no charge for the conference or meals. To register, visit jepson.richmond.edu.
