SPCS offers class visitation opportunities to prospective students

September 25, 2012

The School of Professional and Continuing Studies has initiated class visitation opportunities for prospective adult students interested in “sampling” the University of Richmond classroom experience. Prospective students interested in visiting a class may visit the Class Visit Opportunities page to review the list of class sessions available and to register for the opportunity.

Class visits offer prospective students a preview of the classroom experience they can expect as SPCS students. Visiting students can engage with the professor and with other students in the class. Because our small class sizes and high faculty-to-student ratio enable personalized attention, visitors should expect to be engaged by the professor and students.

Because not every class session is appropriate for visitors, professors have provided a list of individual class sessions available for visitation. The list of sessions varies from semester to semester, depending on subject and instructor, but will generally include as many different undergraduate major and graduate degree classes as possible.

For the fall 2012 semester, courses are being offered by faculty in the following programs:

Classes made available for visitation are limited to three visitors; registrants will be served in the order they register. Wait lists for individual sessions will not be maintained.

At least one week prior to the class visitation opportunity, registrants will receive a reconfirmation email message that includes the class location. A list of prospective visitors will be sent to the professor; visitors are expected to arrive a few minutes early and check in with the professor prior to the start of class. Prospective students will be able to visit only one class session per term, so careful selection is required.

Classroom visitation opportunities are being initiated as part of the School’s Fiftieth Anniversary celebratory year. The School and its faculty and staff encourage and welcome prospective students to take advantage of this and other opportunities to visit the University of Richmond campus.
