Greater U.S. oil production and lower demand should keep gasoline prices lower this year than in 2012, the AAA travel organization says.
Other analysts are less sanguine that 2013 gas prices will trend below last year's.
Gas prices should peak this year at a national average of $3.60 to $3.80 a gallon barring any disruptive surprises, AAA said Wednesday. In 2012, gasoline prices reached an average high of $3.94 a gallon nationally.
