Massage therapy studies graduates earn 100% first-time pass rate on certification exam

May 2, 2013

The inaugural graduating class from the School of Professional and Continuing Studies Massage Therapy Studies program has earned a 100% first-time pass rate on the massage certificate examination.

The Massage Therapy Studies program prepares its students to become certified massage therapists and earn the CMT designation. The 729-hour program of study is accredited and approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB).

All eight of the inaugural graduates of the program earned passing scores on the massage certificate examination in their first try. A 100% first-time pass rate among graduated students is “unheard of” among massage therapy studies training programs, according to Stephanie Bowlin, manager of professional development programs in the School.

The SPCS program meets or exceeds all national and state certification requirements for massage therapists. Established in 2011, the program offers both coursework toward initial CMT certification and continuing education coursework for maintaining CMT certification.
