Directed research HR management graduates present research at international conference

Anna Schemmel, ’03 and GC’13, and Mark Troemel, GC’13, will present research completed with co-author Dr. Patricia Strait, former chair of the Human Resource Management program in the School of Professional and Continuing Studies, at an international conference.

Schemmel, who earned a B.A. at Richmond in Spanish and international economics in 2003, graduated in May 2013 with a Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management. Her research is titled “An English Reconquista: The Impact of the Enhanced Language Proficiency Requirements on Canada’s Multicultural Immigration Model.”

Troemel, who earned his bachelor’s degree from Brown University, graduated in August 2013 with a Master of Human Resource Management degree. His research is titled “Bedouin Rising: How Saudi Female Entrepreneurs are Circumnavigating Barriers and Leading Saudi Arabia into a Knowledge-Based Economy.”

Both research projects were co-authored with Dr. Patricia Strait during their Directed Research experience. The projects were both accepted at the 3rd International Conference for Human and Social Sciences at Sapienza University in Rome, Italy, which will be held September 20-22.
