University of Richmond signs new agreements with J. Sargeant Reynolds, John Tyler community colleges, easing transfer to adult degree programs

September 4, 2013

University of Richmond and two area community colleges are signing updated articulation agreements in September, assuring easy transition for associate degree graduates of the community colleges into bachelor degree programs at Richmond’s School of Professional and Continuing Studies (SPCS).

Students from J. Sargeant Reynolds and John Tyler community colleges who have completed associate’s degrees in applied arts, arts and sciences, or applied science and have a grade point average of 2.0 out of 4.0 from all college work attempted will be guaranteed acceptance to SPCS.

Eligible transfer programs covered in the agreements include SPCS’s bachelor of arts in liberal arts and bachelor of science in professional studies, including human resource management, IT management and paralegal studies.

“The local community colleges continue to be great partners in education for SPCS,” said James Narduzzi, SPCS dean. ”We’re excited to have these updated articulation agreements in place to make the transfer process smooth and simple for community college students.”

Edward L. Ayers, Richmond’s president, signs agreements with Ted Raspiller, president of John Tyler Community College, Sept. 5 and with Gary Rhodes, president of J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, Sept. 23. Both signing ceremonies are held at the university’s Jepson Alumni Center.
