Market participants are on edge about whether Federal Reserve officials meeting Tuesday and Wednesday will start reducing, or tapering, their $85 billion in monthly bond purchases, a program known as quantitative easing or QE. The employment and growth outlooks have improved recently, but annual inflation continues to undershoot the Fed’s 2% target, registering just 0.7% in October.
