International Film: About Elly

The International Film Series features a 2009 film from Iran, About Elly, on February 26 and 28. Elly, a single teacher, is invited to a beach getaway with three couples and their children. Sepeideh, one of Elly’s married friends, plays matchmaker and also invites Ahmad. A budding attraction develops between the two when Elly mysteriously goes missing from the beach. Did she drown or just leave unannounced? Through moments of Hitchcock-esque suspense and plot twists, the group’s camaraderie devolves to bickering, as deceit and animosity are exposed.
