Robert C. “Bob” King Sr. loved the car business.

While a student at Thomas Jefferson High School, Mr. King washed cars, pumped gas and ran parts for the service department at the Richmond Ford dealership. “I loved the excitement,” he said in a 2011 interview.

That job turned into a lifelong career — he had worked nearly 76 years in the auto business when he died Sunday after a brief illness.
