Starbucks in 2015 launched an initiative to open stores in economically challenged neighborhoods in 15 U.S. cities.

To date, about a dozen stores have opened, said Beto Guajardo, senior vice president of global strategy for Starbucks, speaking last week at the University of Richmond Robins School of Business “C-Suite Conversations” series.
