Don Forsyth comments on groups and teamwork

In the February/March 2018 Discover Richmond magazine, Don Forsyth, who holds the Colonel Leo K. & Gaylee Thorsness Endowed Chair in Ethical Leadership, discusses how groups function and some common misperceptions people have about groups.

Forsyth, who teaches classes such as Group Dynamics and Groupology, is the author of the textbook Group Dynamics, published by Cengage. Forsyth notes that although groups are very influential in determining actions and outcomes, their influence is often unrecognized.

"Human behavior is so often group behavior that people must be studied in context — embedded in their families, friendship cliques, teams, organizations and so on — rather than in isolation," says Forsyth.
