Thad Williamson writes essay for Boston Review's print issue, Fifty Years Since MLK

Thad Williamson, associate professor of leadership studies and philosophy, politics, economics and law, reflects on Martin Luther King Jr.'s view of eliminating poverty, where we stand now, and where we can go from here. The essay was published in Boston Review as part of a collection essays marking the 50th anniversary of King's assassination. The essay draws on Williamson's experience working in the city of Richmond, where he served as the first director of the city of Richmond's Office of Community Wealth Building.

"King’s warning about the thinness of the country’s commitment to democracy was combined with a profound optimism that Americans might at last choose justice," writes Williamson.
