Connie E. Harvey, C'95, establishes scholarship for student teachers

September 10, 2018

Connie E. Harvey, C’95, has established an SPCS scholarship to support student teachers in honor of her late husband, James B. Harvey.

Harvey graduated from the School of Professional & Continuing Studies, then called University College, in 1995. Harvey was named the Gibb Family Distinguished Alumni Award recipient in 2007 and has remained engaged with the School in varying roles since her graduation.

Harvey designated the scholarship to support student teachers because her late husband “was a consummate school teacher – both inside and outside of the classroom.”

According to Harvey, her late husband, Jim, was one of twelve children, the only one in his family to attend college. He “wanted to instill his love of learning to all of the children he taught and coached.”
