Partners in the Arts Consortium Summary

Partners in the Arts was founded in 1994 as a membership consortium of the six area public-school divisions, independent schools, and the arts and cultural community. Please read this summary report of Partners in the Arts’ impact on the Richmond region public school divisions for our first 28 years.

Institute for Integrated Learning

Beginning in Summer 2023, the Partners in the Arts Consortium will offer its programming as the Institute for Integrated Learning (IIL), integrating community and culture into all PK-16 learning spaces through the arts and technology.

Teaching Artist/Community Expert Workshop

The PIA Institute for Integrated Learning is offering a one-day workshop for Richmond area teaching artists and community experts who wish to enhance their instructional practice with educators and youth in PK-12 or community settings. It will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. at the Visual Arts Center of Richmond. For more information, contact pia@richmond.edu.

Joan Oates Institute Summer Course

The Joan Oates Institute: Foundations of Arts Integration (JOI) course will be held in person June 26-30, 2023, from 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. on the University of Richmond campus. This experiential course will help participants integrate community and culture into their PK-12 instructional practice through the use of the arts and technology. Educators from all levels and content areas, teaching artists, and community experts from a variety of fields are invited to enroll as a credit course (EDUC 303U/503U) or noncredit course.
