Joe Owen, B'72, member of the Dean's Advisory Council, recognized as 'Leader in the Law'

September 20, 2011

W. Joseph (Joe) Owen, B‘72, has been named a 2011 ‘Leader in the Law’ by Virginia Lawyers Weekly. Owen is a graduate of the Robins School of Business, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, and a member of the School of Continuing Studies Dean’s Advisory Council.

Virginia Lawyers Weekly annually names a class of “Leaders in the Law” comprised of Virginia lawyers, active and retired. The award program, now in its sixth year, “recognizes the lawyers across the commonwealth who are setting the standard for other lawyers in Virginia. ‘Leaders’ are recognized for changing the law, serving the community, changing practice or improving Virginia’s justice system, among other accomplishments.”

Owen and the other members of the Class of 2011 will be recognized and honored during a ceremony on October 20, 2011, at the Science Museum of Virginia.

The honorees of the Class of 2011 will themselves elect a “Leader of the Year” from among their own ranks; the “Leader of the Year” will be announced at the reception.

The Dean’s Advisory Council, of which Owen is a member, regularly advises Dean James L. Narduzzi on matters relating to the School.

Owen is a partner in the Richmond-based law firm Owen & Owens.
