URAA reelects Sam Kaufman as president; also elects new officers and board members
Sam Kaufman of Midlothian, Va., partner of the law firm Owen & Owens PLC, has been elected to a second term as president of the University of Richmond Alumni Association (URAA).
A 1999 Richmond graduate, Kaufman is rated a “Rising Star” by the Thompson Reuters publication Virginia Super Lawyers. He is past chair of the Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce. During his first term as URAA president, Kaufman spearheaded the association’s Engaging the Spider Spirit strategic plan, as well as development of a university mobile device application.
Newly elected officers and board members and their special areas of responsibility include:
- Wayne Dementi of Manakin-Sabot, Va., vice president for outreach. A 1966 Robins School of Business graduate, he is chief financial officer of Dementi Milestone Publishing.
- Craig Flinn of New Vernon, N.J., vice president for membership. A 1987 graduate, he is managing director of Euro Brokers/BGC Partners, New York.
- John Brecker of Berwyn, Pa., vice president for planning and operations. A 2002 graduate, he is director/principal of Turner Investment Partners.
- Rick Naschold of Richmond, Va., secretary and historian. A 1975 graduate, he is a co-founder, principal and investment banker of Dominion Partners.
- Brandt Portugal of New York City, treasurer. A 2002 graduate, he is director of foreign exchange corporate sales at Citigroup Inc.
- Camille Cade Hammond of Reisterstown, Md., member-at-large for outreach. A 1997 graduate, she is a physician and executive director-founder of the Tinina Q. Cade Foundation.
- Hunter Allen of Dallas, Texas, member-at-large for membership. A 2006 graduate, he is an attorney with the international law firm Baker Botts LLP.
- Gayle Goodson Butler of Des Moines, Iowa, member-at-large for planning and operations. A 1973 graduate, she is editor-in-chief of Better Homes and Gardens and executive vice president of its parent media and marketing company, Meredith Corp.
Other new board members elected to three-year terms include:
- Larry Boppe of Cornelius, N.C. Retired, he is a 1964 graduate of the university’s Robins School of Business.
- Molly Ranson Gorman, of Richmond, Va. A 1990 graduate, she works for Capital One Services LLC.
- Connor Marsden of Herndon, Va. A 1999 graduate, he is U.S. director of CRM Online with Microsoft Corp.
- Generra Peck of Richmond, Va. A 2009 graduate, she is special assistant for policy in the Office of Virginia Gov. Robert F. McDonnell.
- Andrew Setterberg of Arlington, Va. A 2006 graduate, he is acquisitions program analyst at the Department of Defense.
- John Stultz of Henrico, Va. A 1956 graduate of the Robins School, he is retired.
- Julee Wilson of New York City. A 2004 graduate, she is style and beauty editor of the Huffington Post’s Black Voices section.
