Ethical decision making is topic of 2013 Crimmel Colloquium with management consultant Mary Gentile

Mary Gentile, director of the business curriculum “Giving Voice to Values” and senior research scholar at Babson College, will give the keynote presentation at The 2013–14 Hays and Margaret Crimmel Colloquium on Liberal Education Nov. 4, 4:30 p.m., in the University of Richmond’s Queally Hall, Ukrop Auditorium.

Gentile’s presentation, “Giving Voice to Values: Educating Values-Driven Leaders,” will focus on ethical decision-making with reflections on her experience developing and teaching Harvard Business School’s first required module on ethical decision-making.

The colloquium honors the memory of Henry Hays Crimmel Sr. and Margaret Cox Crimmel by advancing the cause of liberal education. The colloquium addresses issues of fundamental importance to liberal education, especially the ideal of liberal education and the curriculum and the proper role of the college teacher and the faculty organization.

Gentile is a senior advisor at the Aspen Institute Business & Society Program and an independent consultant on management education and values-driven leadership. She is a former faculty member of Harvard Business School where she was a principal architect of the educational program, “Leadership, Ethics and Corporate Responsibility.” She earned a bachelor’s degree from The College of William and Mary and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the State University of New York.
