2016-17 Marshall Center lecture series focuses on leadership and law; speakers include former CIA director, Washington Post blogger

University of Richmond’s Jepson School of Leadership Studies is announcing the speaker line up for its annual Marshall Center lecture series focusing on statesmanship, global security, law and political theory.

The lecture series kicks off on Sept. 9, when Jennifer Rubin, author of The Washington Post’s “Right Turn” blog and former labor law attorney, will present “Real Statesmanship: Finding Unity in Divisive Times.”

On Nov. 18, Gen. Michael Hayden will present “Tectonic Shifts in Global Security.” He is the former director of the Central Intelligence Agency and author of The New York Times best-seller “Playing to the Edge: American Intelligence in the Age of Terror.”

Stephen Presser, professor of law emeritus at Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, will present “Are American Law Professors Sabotaging the Rule of Law?” on March 17, 2017.

The series will conclude on May 11, 2017, with Robert Faulkner’s presentation, “Democratic Greatness? Tocqueville on American Ambition.” Faulkner is a professor of political science at Boston College.

All lectures will be held at 4:30 p.m.in Weinstein Hall’s Brown-Alley Room.
