UR's Robins School of Business to host panel discussion on the economic impact of the new White House administration

Business professionals will discuss the new president’s fiscal decisions and policies and how they affect the national and global economies at a panel discussion hosted by University of Richmond’s Robins School of Business.

The event is April 19 from 6-7 p.m. in the Ukrop Auditorium of the business school. The event is free, but registration is required.

University of Richmond alum Paul Queally will moderate the panel. Queally is co-president of Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe and a member of the management committee. He focuses on investments in the healthcare industry. He previously was a general partner at The Sprout Group, Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette’s private equity group. He received an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.

Panelists include:

Alan Breed, who is president and portfolio manager of Edgewood Management, which he joined in 1994 as a partner and member of the investment committee from First Boston Corporation. He completed his undergraduate degree at Emory University and received his M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. He serves on the board of Greenwich Hospital where he chairs the investment committee.

Herbert McDade III, who is managing partner of River Birch Capital, a global long/short credit trading hedge fund. Prior to River Birch, he worked at Lehman Brothers for 25 years, spending most of his career in fixed income in trading roles. He was named the president and chief operating office of Lehman in 2008. He received his bachelor’s degree from Duke University and an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan.

Michael Walrath, a University of Richmond graduate, who co-founded WGI Group to provide growth capital to early and expansion startups in enterprise software, consumer internet and digital media industries. He is chairman of Yext and Moat. In 2003, he founded Right Media – the world’s first open exchange for digital advertising. He served as chairman and chief executive officer until its acquisition by Yahoo! In July 2007.

Breed, McDade and Queally are members of the University of Richmond Board of Trustees. Walrath will join the board this fall for a three-year term. Breed is also on the board of Spider Management Company, the manager of UR’s endowment.
