University of Richmond climbs on The Princeton Review lists for 'Top 50 Colleges That Pay You Back' and 'Top 25 Schools for Internships'
The University of Richmond is included in the 2018 edition of The Princeton Review’s “Colleges That Pay You Back: The 200 Schools That Give You the Best Bang for Your Tuition Buck.” Colleges included are considered the nation’s best for academics, affordability and career prospects.
Richmond also was included on two lists:
- The school ranked #39 on the Top 50 Colleges that Pay You Back list, up from #48 last year.
- UR ranked #3 on the Top 25 Best Schools for Internships list, up from #18 last year.
Students note that they benefit from small courses, which allows for an “AMAZING” classroom experience. Students also said that most instructors “make their classes difficult because they know we can rise to the challenge.” The willingness of faculty to meet outside of class to work with students also was cited.
Among the “unparalleled resources” students mentioned is The Richmond Guarantee, which provides a fellowship of up to $4,000 for every undergraduate student to use toward a summer internship or a faculty-mentored research project.
The schools “stand out for their outstanding academics and their affordability via generous financial aid to students with need and/or comparatively low sticker prices," said Robert Franek, The Princeton Review’s Editor-in-Chief and lead author of the book. "Students at these colleges also have access to extraordinary career services from their freshman year on, plus a lifetime of valuable alumni support."
