University of Richmond Downtown opens exhibition featuring work by UR professor Fiona Ross and recent graduate Rosie Compton

January 19, 2018
The University of Richmond Downtown’s Wilton Companies Gallery, located at 626 E. Broad St., is hosting a new exhibition, “Interplay,” which will feature work by UR professor Fiona Ross and recent graduate Rosie Compton.

The interplay between balance and tension, pattern and irregularity is explored by both artists, who draw inspiration from a natural world in constant motion.

Fiona Ross has taught sculpture, ceramics and drawing at the University of Richmond and is represented by the Page Bond Gallery in Richmond. Her works are in the collections of Capital One, Wells Fargo, Markel Corporation and the Republic of Ireland, as well as many private collections.

Rosie Compton graduated from the University of Richmond in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in leadership studies. She is a studio assistant for UR professor of art Tanja Softic and recently interned at Candela Books + Gallery in Richmond.

The Wilton Companies Gallery is a public space used for visual art exhibitions that relate to the mission of UR Downtown and its programs. The exhibition will open Friday, Feb. 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibition will be on view through March 25. For more information, visit downtown.richmond.edu.
