carapicoThe Richmond World Affairs Council will host University of Richmond political science professor Sheila Carapico for the event, “Global Dimensions of Middle Eastern Conflicts” on Oct. 8.

Carapico, a political science professor and coordinator of the international studies program at the University of Richmond, has extensive experience researching, consulting, and teaching in the Middle East.

“This event is envisioned as a conversation rather than a lecture,” said Carapico. “The format will foster an interactive discussion about the historical and global contexts of the seemingly endless strife in the region called the Middle East.”

She also is the author of Political Aid and Arab Activism: Democracy Promotion, Justice, and Representation, Civil Society in Yemen: The Political Economy of Activism in Modern Arabia, and the editor of Arabia Incognita: Dispatches from Yemen and the Gulf.

The event will be held at The Empire Room at the Jefferson Hotel at 5:30 p.m. and is open to public. Students can attend free of charge. For further event details and ticketing information visit richmondworldaffairs.org.
