UR's Weinstein-Rosenthal Forum Features Best-Selling Author Andrew Soloman

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND — The University of Richmond annual Weinstein-Rosenthal Forum on Faith, Ethics and Global Society will feature keynote speaker Andrew Solomon to discuss radical compassion.

“Radical Compassion: An Evening with Andrew Solomon”  will be held on Mon., Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. in the Alice Jepson Theatre of the Modlin Center for the Arts.

Solomon is a writer and lecturer on politics, culture, and psychology, National Book Award winner, and activist in LGBT rights, mental health, and the arts. He is a professor of clinical psychology at Columbia University Medical Center.

In the 2019 Forum, Solomon will address the following questions: “How might we individually and as a society transform oppression into community, adversity into opportunity, and heartache into beauty?” and “How might we live with more love and compassion for others and for ourselves?”

“This year’s theme of “Radical Compassion” is profoundly relevant and needed within our current political and cultural life,” said Rev. Dr. Craig Kocher, University Chaplain and organizer of this year’s forum. “I am hopeful this evening with Dr. Solomon will animate a deeper sense of reflection, empathy, and kindness towards one another, and towards ourselves.”
