University of Richmond School of Law to Screen Holocaust Documentary 'Nobody Wants Us'; Law Alum's Story Featured

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND — The University of Richmond School of Law will host a screening of “Nobody Wants Us,” Nov. 11 from 4-5:30 p.m. in the Moot Courtroom. 

"Nobody Wants Us" tells the story of three teenagers and their families hoping to make it safely onto American soil after escaping the Nazi invasion of Europe. Specifically, the short documentary tells the story of the refugees aboard the Steamship Quanza in 1940 and the role that Richmond Law alumnus Jacob Morewitz played in securing their safety in the U.S.

A Q&A and panel discussion will follow the screening with filmmaker Laura Seltzer-Duny and other noted guests, including: 

  • Stephen Morewitz, lecturer, Cal State East Bay, and grandson of Jacob Morewitz
  • John Paul Jones, Professor Emeritus of Law, Richmond School of Law
  • Charles Sydnor, Senior Staff Historian, Virginia Holocaust Museum

A reception will follow the panel discussion.
