University of Richmond Opens New Retail Dining Location

Organic Krush Café Provides New Offerings, Advances Campus Well-Being Initiatives
January 25, 2021

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND ─ The University of Richmond has opened a new retail dining location. Organic Krush Café, located in the new Well-Being Center, specializes in organic options as well as gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan bakery items.

Organic Krush on the University of Richmond campus is the latest of the café’s locations. Other locations include Short Pump and in Long Island, New York, and Connecticut. The cafe offers baked goods, smoothies, acai bowls, salads, soups, and wraps. Many of the items are the “build your own” concept, which is popular with students.

“Healthy and organic choices are important in meeting the dietary needs of our community,” said Terry Baker, executive director of Dining Services. “Nutrition is an important part of overall well-being, and we are excited to offer this new option.”

As with all other retail dining locations on campus, the University of Richmond will own and operate the café, which is initially open to the campus community only in line with UR’s COVID-19 response protocols. Once COVID restrictions are lifted, the community will be welcome to dine at the café, which is near the Weinstein Center for Recreation.

"When you feel good, anything is possible,” said Michelle Walrath, co-founder of Organic Krush Lifestyle Eatery. “We are thrilled to join with the University — our first ever university café — to offer food that is allergy sensitive, as well as filled with an incredible amount of nutrients."

“Organic Krush is the perfect fit for the new Well-Being Center and our campus, which is committed to the health and well-being of our entire community,” Baker said.

The university’s other dining locations include Lou’s, Passport Café, Tyler’s, Eight-fifteen at Boatwright, ETC, Dean’s Den, the Cellar, and Heilman Dining Center.
