University of Richmond Named Best Value College by Princeton Review; Ranked #3 for Best Schools for Internships

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND — The University of Richmond has been named to The Princeton Review’s list of Best Value Colleges for 2023. UR ranked #3 on the list of “Top 20 Best Schools for Internships (Private Schools).”

The Princeton Review chose 209 schools for the 2023 list based on data from its surveys of administrators at more than 650 colleges in 2022–23. Topics covered included academics, financial aid, and graduation rates. The company also factors in data from student and alumni surveys.

“The schools we chose are a select group. They comprise only about 8% of the nation’s four-year undergraduate institutions,” said Rob Franek, editor-in-chief of The Princeton Review. “We commend their administrators, faculties, staff, and alumni for all they are doing to educate their students and guide them to success in their careers. These colleges are also exceptional for the generous amount of financial aid they award.”

Richmond is one of a few institutions that combines need-blind admission with a guarantee to meet 100% of demonstrated need. Additionally, all first-year applicants are considered for merit-based aid, including full-tuition scholarships and a variety of interest-based programs.

The Princeton Review highlighted UR’s Career Services resources, including the alumni network and internship opportunities. Every undergraduate student is eligible to receive a fellowship of up to $5,000 for a summer internship or faculty-mentored research project through The Richmond Guarantee, a hallmark UR program. 

The rankings noted: “Students at the University of Richmond triumphantly declare that the school’s Career Services office is ‘incredibly helpful and thorough.’ It’s ‘constantly reaching out to students’ and manages to ‘foster great relationships’ with several companies.”

“From finding internship opportunities at top companies around the world to securing funding to support living expenses for an unpaid or minimally paid internship, we support our students during every step of the process and help tailor experiences to meet each individual’s career goals,” said Leslie Stevenson, director of career development. “Many of our students complete internships that lead to full-time jobs.”
