Calcium

Isaac Skromne

Isaac Skromne, assistant professor of biology, studies Calcium, Element 20, related to bone development.

Specifically, Skromne investigates methods to improve mobilization during bone development and regeneration.

“Bones are continuously being “remodeled” by the addition and elimination of calcium. When more calcium is removed than added, our bodies develop osteoporosis. In the Skromne lab, students utilize the zebrafish to study methods to improve calcium deposition during grow and regeneration of bone tissues,” said Skromne.
