My Jepson Story: Greg Efthimiou, '99
*One of a collection of stories written by alumni for the Jepson School's 20th Anniversary
I recall a moment 13 years ago, on the eve of graduation from the University of Richmond, wondering where my degree in leadership studies would take me. Sitting there in a lecture hall in Jepson Hall, all I knew is that I felt prepared to lead. Unfortunately, I had no followers.
But they came in time. Today I have the privilege of leading a team of public relations professionals charged with informing and uniting the nearly 30,000 employees that comprise Duke Energy's workforce. The challenges are many and the pressure can be intense, but my leadership studies degree affords me a distinct advantage. It helps me get the most out of my relationships, abilities and potential to evolve and improve.
I can say with complete certainty that I would not be where I am today without the incredible foundation of a degree in leadership studies. My Jepson School experience has opened doors for me at every turn.
For that reason, I will always be profoundly grateful to Bob and Alice Jepson and to the remarkable administration and faculty members who make the Jepson School such a special institution.
