Dave Bosher R’75, MBA ‘83 considers his experience working with large corporations and The Richmond MBA program fundamental to his success as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at SnagAJob.com, Inc.

Dave joined Richmond-based SnagAJob’s in August 2006.  Before his role as CFO of SnagAJob, Dave assisted the company in its initial institutional capital raise. SnagAJob is currently the number one source for hourly employment and the fourth largest job board in the United States.

From 2001 to early 2006, Dave served as SVP and CFO of Payerpath, Inc. in Richmond. At that time, Payerpath was the leading online processor of healthcare claims in the U.S.   Payerpath, a privately-held, venture capital backed firm, was sold to Misys Healthcare in early 2006.

“Shortly after the sale of Payerpath, I was contacted by a mutual friend of Shawn Boyer, SnagAJob’s founder and Chief Executive Officer, inquiring as to whether I was available to assist them with evaluating their financing options,” Dave explained.

Dave was attracted to the opportunity because of the parallels between Payerpath and SnagAJob:  “Like Payerpath, SnagAJob was a high-growth private company that was contemplating raising venture capital to meet its growth objectives,” he said.

After working with Shawn on a consulting basis for several months, Dave started as CFO upon the completion of the equity raise.  Coming from large corporations allowed Dave to bring a different perspective to his new position.  (Dave’s resume includes serving as SVP and CFO of Cadmus Communications and as Director of Corporate Accounting at A.H. Robins).

“Having worked in big companies for most of my career prior to Payerpath, I came to realize just how rewarding it can be to work in a smaller, high-growth company where you see the results of your efforts more tangibly. I was fortunate to find that same opportunity in Shawn’s offer to join him at SnagAJob,” he said.

Dave is passionate about integrating his experience working in large corporations with his background at Payerpath in his role as CFO.  “I love the opportunity to blend my experience from working in larger, more established companies with those received from my Payerpath days to help position SnagAJob for its high-growth future,” he said.

In addition to bringing varied experience to his role, Dave assumes more responsibility as CFO due to the size of SnagAJob. "One of the aspects of working in a high-growth environment in a smaller company is that every leader’s job tends to have a wider field of responsibility than you would find in a larger company. That goes for the CFO role as much as any other,” Dave said.

Apart from his extensive professional background, The Richmond MBA program has also aided Dave in his career path.  Dave decided to pursue his MBA in 1979 when he was working full-time at A.H. Robins.

“I had been working four or five years since graduating with a BS in Accounting from the University of Richmond. I realized that the MBA program offered me the opportunity to more fully develop my holistic business skills, which would come in particularly handy at a sales and marketing driven company like A.H. Robins,” he said.

Dave’s MBA degree also diversified his skills professionally: "The MBA program is a great way to round out your knowledge base and to take your career to the next step. The Richmond MBA program has continued to just consistently improve year after year, too,” Dave said.
