John Tomasi to speak Nov. 16 on free market fairness

John Tomasi will deliver a lecture on free market fairness Nov. 16, 4:30 p.m, in Jepson Hall 118. The lecture is part of the 2012-13 Marshall Center Lecture Series.

Tomasi is author of "Free Market Fairness," published in 2012 by Princeton University Press. The book presents a new theory of liberal justice committed to both limited government and the material betterment of the poor, and offers moral insights from defenders of economic political liberty, such as F.A. Hayek, and advocates of social justice, such as John Rawls.

He is a professor of political science and philosophy at Brown University and the founding director of the Political Theory Project, an independent research center at Brown that supports scholarship and encourages political dialogue.

The 2012-13 Marshall Center Lecture Series is hosted by the John Marshall International Center for the Study of Statesmanship in the University of Richmond’s Jepson School of Leadership Studies.
