March 12, 2018

Nominations from current students in the School of Professional & Continuing Studies are now being accepted for two Commencement awards: The Jean H. Proffitt Student Service Award and the Itzkowitz Family Distinguished Adjunct Faculty Award.

Current SPCS students are invited to submit one online nomination for each award. Nominations are accepted at spcs.richmond.edu/vote through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 25.

Jean H. Proffitt Student Service Award

One graduating student will receive the Jean H. Proffitt Student Service Award. Established in 1996 by the School of Continuing Studies and the SCS Student Government Association, this award is presented to a graduating student recognized by his/her peers for outstanding service to the School. The award is given in honor of the service exemplified by long-time University College and SCS staff member Jean H. Proffitt, C’83.

The award has been given each year since being established. Prior recipients can be viewed online.

Itzkowitz Family Distinguished Adjunct Faculty Award

One member of the adjunct faculty will receive the Itzkowitz Family Distinguished Adjunct Faculty Award. Established in 1977, this award recognizes the teaching achievements of an adjunct faculty member. Named in honor of Fred Itzkowitz, C’75, president of SLI Insurance Company, the award was endowed by Itzkowitz and his family in 2006. The award is given to an adjunct faculty member who challenges students to be better thinkers, organizers, students, and/or persons.

The award has been given each year since being established. Prior recipients can be viewed online.

These two Commencement awards are entirely student nominated: Only nominations received from current SPCS students will be considered for this award.
