Tiawana Giles, GC'13, principal of GW Carver Elementary, named runner-up for leadership award
Tiawana Giles, GC’13, principal of George W. Carver Elementary School in Richmond, has been named a runner up for the 2021 R.E.B. Award for Distinguished Educational Leadership, receiving funds for promoting science education at her school.
In being named a runner up for the award, GW Carver Elementary receives $10,000 to build capacity in science through the purchase of Science Foss Kits for all 4th and 5th grade teachers and science lab coats for teachers, and to implement parent engagement nights focused on Science.
The R.E.B. Awards for Distinguished Educational Leadership, funded by the R.E.B. Foundation and the Community Foundation for a greater Richmond, seek to recognize public school principals who go beyond the day-to-day demands of their position to create an exceptional educational environment.
Giles earned a graduate certificate in educational leadership & policy studies in 2013 through SPCS.
