Before joining NC State, Showalter was an audit partner with KPMG, an audit, tax and advisory firm, serving in numerous roles throughout his 30+-year career. He is an active participant in the American Accounting Association. Showalter’s success has been recognized throughout the business community, most recently as the chairman of the Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board. He received his Bachelor of Science of Business Administration from University of Richmond.

The Watts Lectureship was established in 1974 to honor Stanley S. Watts, a 1943 graduate of the University of Richmond. Watts was elected in 1968 to serve as president of the insurance industry’s most distinguished international organization, the Million Dollar Round Table.
