University of Richmond will host children’s author and illustrator Henry Cole Oct. 11 at 5:30 p.m. in Tyler Haynes Commons, the Alice Haynes Room.

Cole’s lecture, “From Nature to Novels,” describes his journey from being the son of a Virginia dairy farmer to a best-selling children’s author. He has illustrated more than 50 children’s books and has received several awards for books he has written.

“Attendees will be impressed by Cole’s extensive repertoire of children’s books that span from environmental issues to history to making hard choices to just plain fun,” said Angela Leeper, director of curriculum materials center, Boatwright Memorial Library.

Hosted by the School of Professional and Continuing Studies Graduate Education program, the School of Arts and Sciences and Boatwright Memorial Library,  the event is free and open to the public. A reception and book signing will follow the lecture.
