University of Richmond Hosts Series of Creative, COVID-Safe, Halloween-Themed Events to Engage Students, Faculty, and Staff
Note: The events highlighted below are only open to UR faculty, staff, and students and the in-person events have strict reservation requirements to adhere to the campus health and safety protocols; media assets are available upon request as during the Orange Stage of our Physical Distancing Framework, external visitors, including media, are not permitted to be on campus.
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND ─ From outdoor movie screenings to a virtual murder mystery, various groups at the University of Richmond are channeling creative ways to safely celebrate Halloween.
Since the student organization Trick or Treat Street (TOTS) could not host its annual community-focused Halloween event on campus, the group found a fun way to celebrate with the on-campus community by decorating the Eco-Corridor (pictured above). Guests could tour the trail and engage in some spooky photo opportunities.
Events still to come include:
Oct. 27: TOTS is also sponsoring a viewing of Halloweentown, a popular 90s Disney movie, in one of the outdoor spaces on campus that can accommodate students in person while adhering to all safety protocols, including masks and physical distancing.
Oct. 28: SpiderBoard, a student-led event programming board, will host a virtual, interactive 1920s-themed murder mystery party. Students are encouraged to dress in 1920s attire for the virtual event.
Oct. 29-Nov.1: University Museums is hosting an “Art Heist” game for faculty, staff, and students that combines a heist mystery and escape room. The fun event names some famous campus faces, including University of Richmond President Ronald A. Crutcher and the college deans, as suspects.
Oct. 31: Common Ground is using one of the campus tents available for outdoor programming to host “Halloween Night!” This event will allow a limited number of costume-clad students to paint their choice of pumpkins or masks and enjoy some Halloween treats and other fun activities.
