University of Richmond Recognized Nationally for Commitment to Promoting Well-Being, Safety, and Inclusion

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND ─ The University of Richmond has received the inaugural Campus Prevention Network Seal of Prevention™ for exemplary efforts to foster student safety, well-being, and inclusion through online prevention programs. Fewer than 15% of U.S. institutions have earned this distinction.

The CPN Seal of Prevention acknowledgment recognizes colleges and universities that have an institutional commitment to providing comprehensive, evidence-based prevention strategies in the areas of mental health, diversity and inclusion, substance misuse, and sexual violence prevention.

“Ensuring student safety and well-being is fundamental to student success, and these areas tie in with the University’s strategic plan and the opening of the new Well-Being Center,” said Heather Sadowski, director of health promotion. “The CPN Seal elevates the visibility of campuses that demonstrate evidence of meeting this commitment.”

Tracy Cassalia, deputy Title IX coordinator for students, notes this recognition highlights UR’s ongoing commitment to alcohol education and sexual assault prevention courses for students. On the employee side, sexual harassment training and a variety of safety courses are offered.

“This latest honor builds off a past EVERFI Impact Award we earned, also through the Campus Prevention Network,” said Cassalia. “Both recognitions are based on a rigorous assessment of prevention strategy in addressing alcohol or substance misuse, sexual assault, or hazing.”
