Second Nature Awards University of Richmond Funds to Aid Campus Climate Projects
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND — Second Nature, an NGO focused on accelerating climate action in higher education, announced that the University of Richmond is one of nine higher education institutions awarded pro bono consulting services to aid its campus climate projects.
Richmond will use the services of planning and advisory firm Brailsford & Dunlavey to help UR integrate climate action and resilience planning into high-level campus planning efforts. The services are valued at up to $20,000.
“Working alongside Brailsford & Dunlavey, we will create a roadmap to climate action and resilience that will allow us to embed sustainability into a multitude of campus planning efforts,” said Rob Andrejewski, director of sustainability. “We have a commitment to carbon neutrality, and this work will allow us to identify new strategies that can be integrated into energy, space, and comprehensive plans so we can achieve our climate action goals.”
“I am proud of the progress we’ve made since committing to climate action at the University of Richmond. We have reduced greenhouse emissions by two-thirds since 2009, invested in energy efficiency, and adopted renewable energy,” said David Hale, executive vice president and COO. “As we shift our focus to achieving the remainder of our carbon neutrality goal, we are grateful to Second Nature for helping us identify viable solutions to a sustainable future.”
