University of Richmond Ranked As Top 50 Green College
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND — The Princeton Review has recognized the University of Richmond as one of the top 50 schools in the nation for environmental responsibility in the 2024 edition of its annual Guide to Green Colleges.
The University of Richmond has been included in this guide for more than a decade and has been ranked among the top 50 schools for two consecutive years.
Colleges are selected for the Guide to Green Colleges based on school-reported data in addition to surveys of students about their sustainability-related campus experiences. Top 50 schools score well in categories including campus-wide support for environmental awareness and conservation efforts, and the visibility and impact of student environmental groups.
This ranking recognizes UR’s dedication to fostering a culture of sustainability through initiatives such as local and organic dining, sustainability coursework, and the RethinkWaste waste reduction program.
"Sustainability at UR is vibrant at the grassroots level and has robust support from our administration. You can see evidence of this in initiatives such as the development of the sustainability minor and the creation of the Rethink Waste program, and through the students who are helping educate a new generation on the need for climate justice," said Rob Andrejewski, director of sustainability. "We’re grateful for this recognition from the Princeton Review. It’s a testament to the efforts of our students, faculty, and staff to model how we can effectively meet the challenges of our time."
