University of Richmond Named Best Value College by Princeton Review; Ranked #6 for Best Schools for Internships

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND — The University of Richmond has been named to The Princeton Review’s list of Best Value Colleges for 2024. UR also ranked #6 on the list of “Top 20 Best Schools for Internships (Private Schools).”

Richmond has been included on the Best Value Colleges list since 2013 and on the top internships list eight times, including being ranked within the top 10 schools in that category for the past seven consecutive years. 

The Princeton Review selected 209 schools for the 2024 list based on data from its surveys of administrators at more than 650 colleges in 2023–24. Included schools earned the highest Return on Investment ratings, which are based on more than 40 data points that cover academics, affordability, and career preparation. The included schools offer “a great education with excellent career preparation and at a relatively affordable price,” according to The Princeton Review.

Richmond is one of a few institutions that combines need-blind admission with a guarantee to meet 100% of demonstrated need. Additionally, all first-year applicants are considered for merit-based aid, including full-tuition scholarships and a variety of interest-based programs.

The Princeton Review highlighted UR’s career resources, including the alumni network and internship opportunities. Every undergraduate student is eligible to receive a fellowship of up to $5,000 for a summer internship or faculty-mentored research project through The Richmond Guarantee, a hallmark UR program.

The rankings noted that students at the University of Richmond say the school’s career team is “constantly reaching out to students” and “foster[s] great relationships” with companies. The Princeton Review also said “undergrads flock there to explore various majors and careers … and to take advantage of fantastic programs like Spider Shadowing, which provides individuals with the opportunity to spend time with an alum or employer to learn more about a particular career. As if that wasn’t enough, students can turn to the office for résumé reviews and interview prep.”
