University of Richmond Welcomes New Executive Director of Dining Services
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND — Upen Malani will serve as executive director of Dining Services at the University of Richmond.
Malani, who most recently served as executive director of Auxiliary Services at Georgetown University, brings more than 20 years of experience in higher education leadership and dining services to UR.
“UR has established itself as a leader in dining by focusing on student health and well-being, sustainability, and healthy, fresh, and internationally diverse foods,” said Malani. “I look forward to continuing to build on this foundation of success.”
At Georgetown, Malani oversaw all dining operations, including the opening of a new campus eatery, numerous retail sites, and catering. Previously, he served as the AVP of operations at Marymount University, where he managed all auxiliary services, including the transition of their dining program from a third-party vendor to a self-operated model.
“Upen Malani’s leadership and proven track record in managing customer-oriented dining operations will greatly contribute to our success,” said Maria O’Callaghan, senior associate vice president of campus operations. “He brings with him a vision for Dining Services that will drive innovation for UR’s dining program.”
Malani joined the UR community on Aug. 15.
