May 28, 2025

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND — University of Richmond student Amy Ogle, Class of 2026, has been awarded a Beinecke Scholarship. Ogle is the second UR student to receive this highly selective award, given to 20 exceptional students in the U.S. who are pursuing graduate study in the humanities, arts, and social sciences.

Ogle is double majoring in English and creative writing. She is a poetry editor for UR’s literary and art magazine The Messenger and is a member of the University Players. She was also a Humanities Fellow in 2024–25.

With the support of the Beinecke Scholarship, Ogle intends to pursue a Master of Fine Arts in Fiction and is considering a career as an author and editor in the publishing industry.

"My research examines how Asian adoptee authors create more authentic and nuanced depictions of adoptee experiences in middle grade and young adult novels," Ogle said. "This award provides a myriad of opportunities for graduate studies to help me explore further research as well as my creative writing and career aspirations."

Ogle is also a Presidential Scholar and recently received the Robert E. Loving Book Award from the Phi Beta Kappa honor society, presented to a junior with the highest cumulative grade point average.
