UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND — The University of Richmond has again been recognized in the Fiske Guide to Colleges, a leading resource for prospective students and families. Richmond is one of about 300 top schools featured in the 2026 edition and has been included in the guide since its debut in the 1980s.
The latest guidebook highlights Richmond’s academic excellence, vibrant campus life, and strong commitment to student success — particularly in career development and community engagement.
“Students at Richmond certainly find plenty of programs to like,” notes the guide. “From first-of-their-kind academic programs to innovative out-of-classroom learning and networking opportunities, Richmond is working hard to push its vision of preprofessional education shaped by commitments to the liberal arts, leadership, and community involvement.”
A graduating student quoted in the guide says, “Richmond is not about comparison; it is about individuality. It is about you — your aspirations, your passion, your journey.”
Richmond is described as offering a rigorous yet collaborative academic environment, with small class sizes and close relationships between students and faculty mentors.
The Fiske Guide also emphasizes the impact of The Richmond Guarantee, a signature UR program that provides all traditional undergraduates with up to $5,000 in funding to support summer research or internship experiences.
“I know my internship experience, stemming from the Richmond Guarantee, will provide me with a competitive advantage,” says one UR sophomore quoted in the guide.
Richmond’s deep commitment to service and civic engagement is another focal point. The guide notes that 84% of students volunteer outside of class, many through programs coordinated by the Bonner Center for Civic Engagement.
The guide also highlights the expansion of Richmond’s Promise to Virginia, which now covers tuition, housing, and food for qualified in-state students with family incomes of $75,000 or less.
