University of Richmond Mortar Board Honor Society Chapter Receives National Award for Excellence in Campus Leadership

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND — The University of Richmond chapter of the honor society Mortar Board has received a Project of Excellence Award from the national chapter. This award recognizes outstanding chapter projects with high member participation.
Mortar Board is a national honor society recognizing college seniors for their exemplary scholarship, leadership, and service. The University of Richmond chapter was honored with an award in the category of “Leadership” for their President’s Forum event.
An annual tradition, the student-led Mortar Board organizes an opportunity for students to hear directly from campus leadership, including the University president, and ask questions about what matters most to them.
The most recent President’s Forum was held this past spring semester. In a fireside chat-style format, President Kevin F. Hallock, along with the two student government presidents at the time, answered a series of questions from students, including how decisions about the University’s future are made and prioritized. President Hallock included members of his cabinet and other leaders from across campus to join him at the event to introduce themselves to the students and share how their role intersects with student support and success.
“The last President’s Forum was a huge success, and it’s an event our chapter and students across campus look forward to each year,” said UR senior Grace Brown, president of UR’s Mortar Board chapter. “We are thrilled that this award recognizes the valuable tradition of strengthening connections between students and campus leadership.”
