University of Richmond Economics Professor KimMarie McGoldrick Receives National Education Award

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND — Economics professor KimMarie McGoldrick is the recipient of the American Economic Association’s Distinguished Economic Education Award for 2025. 

The AEA Distinguished Education Award is awarded to members of AEA who demonstrate excellence in teaching, the development of curriculum, mentorship, and service.

McGoldrick, who is the E. Claiborne Robins Distinguished Professor of Economics in the Robins School of Business, was praised for her exceptional leadership in economics education, including developing several education workshops, writing more than 50 articles in the field, and serving as co-editor of the Journal of Economic Education.

“KimMarie is a consistent supporter of undergraduate students and early-career faculty,” said Mickey Quiñones, dean of the Robins School of Business. “Her extraordinary mentorship, prolific scholarship, and thought leadership in economics education have had a lasting impact at UR and beyond.” 

McGoldrick, who has taught at UR since 1992, was previously awarded the Kenneth G. Elzinga Distinguished Teaching Award from the Southern Economic Association and the H. Hiter Harris Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching from the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges, among other accolades.
