University of Richmond Hosts Statewide Applied Ethics Bowl
College Students and Community Leaders Discuss “Ethics and Business”
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND — The University of Richmond will host the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges’ 26th annual statewide collegiate Applied Ethics Bowl on Feb. 13.
Four UR students will participate in the event, where student teams from colleges across the Commonwealth deliberate a variety of ethical dilemmas related to the theme of “Ethics and Business.”
The members of the student team, advised by philosophy professor Brannon McDaniel, are: Madisyn Carter, a sophomore in the School of Arts & Sciences; Nick Lewis, a senior majoring in global studies and history; Peyton Noland, a sophomore majoring in psychology; and Maximilian Weiss, a senior majoring in Russian studies.
During the one-day event, the teams present their analyses to panels of judges comprised of business, education, and other professionals. The competition also offers opportunities for student participants to engage in career conversations with leaders from various fields.
Last year, University of Richmond’s student team won the championship and the Batten Trophy.
