University of Richmond’s Annie Evans Receives National History Education Award
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND — Annie Evans, director of education and outreach for New American History at the University of Richmond, has been awarded the Sarah Drake Brown Leadership in History Award by the National Council for History Education.
This award honors an educator who demonstrates exemplary leadership in K-12 history education.
Evans was recognized for her collaborative approach to designing history curriculum for both K-12 and college-age students. Through New American History, Evans works with educators, museums, and cultural institutions to develop free teaching resources, emphasizing how local history connects to broader topics.
“Annie exemplifies the spirit of this award through her tireless dedication to history educators and students,” said the NCHE. “Annie's commitment to inspiring the next generation of public historians, history educators, and civic leaders makes her a truly deserving recipient of this honor.”

Evans has worked at the University of Richmond since 2019.
